A baby means anticipation, excitement – and, of course, lots of new expenses. It’s good to start saving for your child early on. That’s exactly why we’re introducing a new Clanq feature: the «Safe for the future». It allows you to start collecting cashback for your child with every purchase you make during your pregnancy or even earlier.

The earlier you start saving, the better

Many parents want to do something for their baby’s future even before they are born. However, setting up a separate savings account for your child is often only possible once you have a birth certificate. Clanq closes this gap with the «Safe for the future»: You can set up your savings safe right now!

Unlike Clanq’s «piggy bank», which has its own IBAN, the «safe» is only a temporary storage facility and not a traditional account. Nevertheless, the safe is a good way to collect your first savings for your child’s future.

Saving for the future – automatically

If you pay for these with your Clanq card, you will receive 1 % cashback on everything. With selected partners – many of which are particularly relevant for expectant parents – you can even receive up to 25 % cashback. This means that part of your spending automatically goes back into your savings vault.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Download the Clanq app and open an account if you’re new here.
  2. Create a new piggy bank.
  3. Select the «Safe for the future».
  4. Enter your relationship (e.g. mother), an approximate date of birth (month only) and a name or nickname.
  5. And you’re ready to go! Cashback is automatically collected whenever you pay with your Clanq card.

And when the baby arrives?

Once your baby is born, simply convert the safe into a proper piggy bank. Your savings will then be automatically transferred from the safe to the piggy bank with IBAN.
